Berkeley is at a boiling point. Student workers at Cal are staging daily walkouts; homeless people are dying in the streets; BUSD students are fighting daily battles for representation and safety; families are struggling to survive. Donald Trump’s election has emboldened a dangerous subset of our nation intent on rolling back our basic human rights. The recent wave of openly violent white supremacist gatherings outside of Berkeley High DEMANDS a response from BUSD and the City of Berkeley.
*Tell Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin (510-981-7000) and BUSD Superintendent Donald Evans (510-644-6206) to halt normal operations on May 1st in support of International Workers Day better known as May Day.
*May Day is globally observed by closing businesses, schools, and community institutions to participate in political acts of solidarity with workers, immigrants, indigenous communities, communities of color, women, queer & transgender people, students, & all oppressed peoples.
************************************
NO WORK, NO SCHOOL, UNITE & FIGHT!
•Defend Berkeley & BUSD’s Sanctuary Status
•Defend immigrant workers, students, & their families against Trump’s attacks
•Reject privatization of public education
•Demand Universal Healthcare
•Demand justice for victims of police brutality
•Reject global war crimes & the drafting of our children to further US imperialism
•Demand access to local, affordable housing
