SF Planning Commission Considers Mr. Nice Guy

Date:
Thursday, June 21, 2007
Time:
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Event Type:
Meeting
Organizer/Author:
Location Details:
The hearing will be at San Francisco City Hall, room 400,
on Thursday, June 21. The hearing is scheduled to begin at 2:00
p.m., and they may address this issue around 3:00 p.m.

Support is needed at the San Francisco Planning Commission this
Thursday, June 21 for the "Mr. Nice Guy" medical cannabis
dispensary. Mr. Nice Guy is a popular, well-run dispensary that
serves patients in its neighborhood, from throughout the City, and
from neighboring areas. It is in a great location for a dispensary
and is convenient to transportation and freeway access. Nobody at
all lives on the immediate block, the character of which has greatly
improved since Mr. Nice Guy opened there two years ago.

Although the Planning Commission staff report admits that Mr. Nice
Guy is compliant with the various criteria set forth in San
Francisco's ordinance, the report nevertheless recommends rejecting
the application because of supposed neighborhood opposition. The
problem is this: One neighbor who lives a couple of blocks away is a
political consultant down on the Peninsula. He has whipped up
opposition among some neighbors, generating 50 letters to the
Planning Commission staff, decrying the alleged proliferation of
dispensaries in the vicinity.

We need a large turnout of medical cannabis supporters at the
Planning Commission hearing to counteract the frenzied, prejudiced
neighbors. The hearing will be at San Francisco City Hall, room 400,
on Thursday, June 21. The hearing is scheduled to begin at 2:00
p.m., and they may address this issue around 3:00 p.m. Please try to
be there.
