Mentch's next LOCAL court date is November 15, 2006. This is not about the feds, but about Sheriff Robbin and D.A. Bob Lee, about our own local Board of Supervisors--which refuses to take a strong stand against these prosecutions.
It's about a bizarre LOCAL illegal standard being used to prosecute Mentch, claiming that he can't do what the city's marijuana clubs do with city permission--sell marijuana for a reasonable return to those who need it with appropriate documentation.
The above decision requiring a new trial is being appealed by the Attorney General's office. Mentch is also slated to be tried on a second round of charges (felony cultivation, sales, possession, etc.).
Check out his attorney Ben Rice'at a Medical Marijuana forum held several months ago at the Santa Cruz Law Library at http://www.radiolibre.org/brb/brb061029.mp3 . Skip ahead past the loud music to the 80-minute forum.
The Thursday interview will soon to be posted at http://www.radiolibre.org/brb/brb061108.mp3).
