Fundraising event for Teresa Rojas, Sunday, October 15th at the Element Lounge in San Francisco!
Teresa Rojas, known to all her friends and co-workers as "Mamacita", came to California from Mexico in search of a better life; fleeing economic hardship and an abusive husband. She brought her two school aged children, one who struggles with epilepsy, as well as her teenage brother and sister. She began working in the medicinal cannabis industry in 2003 to support her family and the cause. Anyone who has ever encountered Mamacita knows what a kind, loving soul she is. In March of 2006, she as arrested by the DEA while processing cannabis for medicinal use. Due to her illegal immigrant status, she is being denied all basic legal rights under state and federal law and is not protected by SB 420. She is still, to this day, incarcerated in Santa Rita, with no release date set.
