The Green Cross, Medical Cannabis Dispensary - Appeals Board Hearing 11.01.06
At a July 13, 2006 public hearing, the Planning Department denied The Green Cross application to permit them to operate a medical cannabis dispensary at 1701 Leavenworth Street in the Marina/North Beach/Fisherman's Wharf area. A public hearing before the Appeals Board is scheduled for 11.01.06 at 5pm, at City Hall, Room 416. All Green Cross & medical marijuana backers are asked to attend and voice their support.
Back on July 13th, the Planning Department of the City and County of San Francisco held a public hearing to decide whether the application to operate a medical cannabis dispensary in the Marina-North Beach-Fisherman's Wharf area by The Green Cross would be granted or denied. I feel they were unfairly denied the right to operate. They were the last case heard for that day, near or after the official 5pm end of hearings, the neighborhood opposition groups voiced their opinions, The Green Cross supporters were not given the time to speak.
A last effort by The Green Cross is at a scheduled hearing before the Appeals Board of the City and County of San Francisco on November 1, 2006 at 5pm, and will take place at City Hall in Room 416. The example of The Green Cross gained national media attention, even aired on ABC-TV News Nightline, leading up to the July 13th hearing before the Planning Department. Even after the hearing. It's time to revisit this issue as it leads up to the November hearing before the Appeals Board. All Green Cross backers are urged to attend and voice their support. This can very well decide the fate of medical marijuana laws and dispensary operations, not just for San Francisco. But it can well start in San Francisco. Or end here.
Also, all supporters are urged to write a letter to the Appeals Board in support of The Green Cross. The more, the better. Please direct your letters to:

Uploaded is my letter to the Appeals Board requesting and justifying why The Green Cross should be allowed to operate a medical cannabis dispensary at that particular location. And why cannabis should be viewed in a more positive way.
