San Francisco Board of Supervisors to Vote on MMJ Legislation

Date:
Tuesday, August 08, 2006
Time:
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Event Type:
Meeting
Organizer/Author:
Location Details:
Legislative Chamber - Second Floor City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B.
Goodlett Place

*ASA SF ACTION ALERT:
San Francisco Board of Supervisors to Vote on Amending Legislation
Tuesday, August 8th 2p.m.
*
WHO: Patients, supporter and allies
WHAT: Board of Supervisors to vote on trailing legislation to the
current regulations
WHEN: Tuesday, August 8th 2p.m.
WHERE: Legislative Chamber - Second Floor City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B.
Goodlett Place
WHY: San Francisco passed medical cannabis collective (or 'dispensary')
regulations early this year. Since then, the first collective to undergo
the permitting process has been denied at the first of several hearings.
ASA fears this may be the start of a trend that will ultimately lead to
severe attrition of dispensaries and by extension safe access for the
12,000 patients in the city. This legislation is a first step in
attempting to curb this attrition.

*What to do if you can't come to the meeting:

*Call Supervisors Dufty (Mission District) and Ma (Sunset District) and
urge them to vote yes on this legislation! You will probably talk to the
staff and not to the Supervisors directly, so please look over the
sample script provided below and decide what you want to say before
placing these calls. Also, please reply to this email with the Subject
line "I CALLED" so we can have an idea of how many patients responded to
this Action Alert.

*Sample Script:

*1. Hello, my name is ______________, and I am a medical cannabis
patient and resident of San Francisco. I am calling to urge Supervisor
_(Dufty/ Ma)_ to vote yes on the Medical Cannabis Trailing Legislation
as it ensures my rights to safe access protected by state law.

2. Hello, my name is ______________, and I am a medical cannabis patient
and resident of San Francisco. I am concerned about the Medical Cannabis
Trailing Legislation appearing before the Board at this Tuesday's
Meeting. Can you please tell me how the Supervisor plans to vote on this
important issue?

In solidarity,
