Green Cross in Need of Support in Order to Reopen in San Francisco
Green Cross Medical Cannabis Dispensary Has Found a New Home
The Green Cross medical cannabis dispensary has found a new home, but it has a struggle ahead to obtain the permits needed for the home. Kevin Reed, the operator of the Green Cross, is requesting that patients write letters on behalf of the dispensary. The Green Cross has received a lot of negative press recently because it is hoping to reopen at 2701 Leavenworth Street, near the Fisherman's Wharf tourist district (this is being opposed by people who don't want a medical cannabis dispensary to be located in their "backyard," or so close to a tourist district). The good news is that a separate discretionary review request has not been filed, and it has not been requested by the city's planning department. The space has been inspected by the police, fire, and health departments, and an open house for neighborhood residents/leaders/business owners took place early in July. However, the file for the Green Cross's permit contains hundreds of letters opposed to the dispensary opening in the neighborhood, and one hundred in favor of it. The Green Cross is asking for supporters to send letters of support for the dispensary to Mayor Gavin Newsom, Supervisor Michela Alioto Pier, and Supervisor Aaron Peskin. The next hearing for the Green Cross be will on Thursday, July 13th at 1:30pm in the Planning Commission Chambers – Room 400 City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place. Read more
