Women's rights defenders counter anti-choice crusaders
About 500 defenders of women's rights attempted to counter a mobilization of nearly 10,000 anti-choice crusaders in San Francisco today.
About 500 defenders of women's rights attempted to counter a mobilization of nearly 10,000 anti-choice crusaders in San Francisco today. Organized by Catholic church organizations across the entire Western Region, these modern day religious warriors arrived here in the "unholy land" confident that abortion will soon be outlawed across much of the country.
"We're here today because abortion is a right, not a choice,'' said Maya Jones of Oakland, a volunteer with the anti-war group Not in Our Name. "As we come up against this Christian fascism that is condoned by our government, it is more important than ever for people to come into the streets and take a stand.'' - from the San Francisco Chronicle's SFGate.com
