People Power Can End the War - Stop Recruitment! No Draft!
People Power Can End the War Collective helped bring together many local groups in what was a spirited afternoon of protest and creative resistance this afternoon in Downtown Oakland.
Over 200 people rallied at the Chevron Station in Oakland to before marching in the streets down Telegraph Ave and back up Broadway to the Armed Forces Recruiting Station in Downtown Oakland this afternoon. Rallies on both ends of the march featured inspiring performances from many youth and artists from the community. Upon arriving at the recruiting station, activists lined up in front of the building and began to "re-decorate" the facade. The result was a beautiful re-claiming of the space on Broadway between 21st and 22nd streets.

The graffiti on the recruitment center were still there when some of us went by around 9:30 pm. Here's the message (on the right hand door) that isn't shown in the photos above.
