Covid-19 affecting Mental Health
By: Val Leon-Echeverria
Covid-19 has been a huge burden to society's mental health. During the covid-19 lockdown, people were forced to quarantine and not socialize. This affected many people and their mental health. Staying indoors can be pretty lonely as well as irritating when living with the same people. The only thing most people were able to do was go around for a walk to get some fresh air. Not only have adults been impacted but also children and students. Children have not been able to fully socialize with other children due to the pandemic. Children were also in lock down which allowed them to spend more time with their parents. This caused children to develop separation anxiety due to being with their caregivers often. Students have also been majorly impacted because of having to do classes online. This remote learning was a very hard transition for students and impacted them significantly. Learning online can be harder not being able to have that one on one time with a teacher. When students are not able to socialize with other students and are forced to be home 24/7 to do school and not go out, this can make them develop anxiety and depression. Being inside for most of the day can make people very anxious. If you need any resources or want to learn more please visit the website below.
