Police State Terrorism for Memorial Day Weekend

by Swords to Plowshares Now
On the eve of a war holiday, Memorial Day weekend, recognized as the beginning of summer, Friday, May 22, 2020, the police state was out in full force wasting our tax dollars while we have 100,000 unemployed in San Francisco and 40 million unemployed nationwide, and perhaps 20,000 homeless in San Francisco and perhaps 1 million homeless nationwide.

At Aquatic Park at the foot of Van Ness at 1 p.m. on May 22, 2020, part of the federal National Seashore, 5 San Francisco motorcycle police, each paid at least $100,000 a year plus hazard pay for riding a motorcycle and benefits, rode their taxpayer funded motorcycles down the steep stone stairs bordering the stone seating area above the beach. They endangered their lives, the lives of the people sitting in the stone seating area, and the property of the taxpayers, the motorcycles, with this unnecessary terrorist action. They then rode their motorcycles on the Promenade toward Fort Mason, all federal land. An hour or so later, a solo San Francisco motorcycle cop rode on the Promenade at Aquatic Park toward Fort Mason. This was followed shortly thereafter by a police van. There was absolutely no reason for any of this; they were all clearly bored and taking a tour of the scenic area.

From 12 noon to 1 p.m., the entire San Francisco Bay, including Aquatic Park, was buzzed by military planes, flying in formation of 2 to 4, also for no good reason whatsoever, wasting even more millions of dollars and oil as the military only exists of maximize the profits of the oil companies and munitions makers.

The only group of people in the entire Fisherman’s Wharf area, which is adjacent to Aquatic Park, were in Aquatic Park, consisting of swimmers, both expert and recreational, and families with small children. The rest of the Fisherman’s Wharf area looks like a graveyard since there are no tourists anywhere. So far, the hotels are only 5% occupied in San Francisco. The police state terrorism costs the city and federal taxpayers millions of dollars all better spent on housing the homeless, and food and guaranteed income for the unemployed. The other graveyards are the Union Square hotel and clothes shopping area and the tourist section of Grant Avenue in Chinatown, due to a complete lack of tourists.
