Oakland 2019 Teachers Contract Fight, The OEA, CTA, Charters & Privatization

On January 5, 2019, a forum was held on Oakland 2019, the Oakland teachers contract fight, the OEA, CTA, charters & privatization. Speakers included Keith Brown, President of the Oakland Education Association (OEA); Michael Shane, Teacher (OEA. member), and member of Classroom Struggle; Bob Mandel, active in 1996 strike, later elected to exec-board of the OEA; Jack Gerson, OEA executive board and bargaining team member from 2007 to 2011. Panelist discussed the role of charters and the past strikes of the OEA and the role of the CTA.

The forum was sponsored by the Peace and Freedom Party East Bay.
