Live art making, local vendors, and lots of fun! Join us for our 8th Annual Misfit Maker + Creative Marketplace, a one night live art-making event featuring over 40 Bay Area artists. Throughout the evening, artists will be making small sculptures and other giftables on site in Root Division’s gallery. These notable objects range in spectrum with distinct designs and innovative approaches to object-making. Each artist made item will be available for sale as they are completed, ranging in price from $20 - $60.

Presented alongside this interactive art making, Root Division’s Creative Marketplace will feature booths from local artists, shops and workshops specializing in Bay Area artist-made goods. This temporary marketplace offers an additional outlet to explore one-of-kind objects and directly support artists and art workers.

As a new addition this year, Root Division has partnered with Open Book Show, produced by Kate Laster, featuring artist books by 30 local artists. This project is a continuation of previous community-based programs that allow visitors to directly interact with the intimacy and tactility of various artist books. Alongside the showcasing of these unique works, Laster and a selection of artists will be live printing a poster inspired by the event and available to purchase throughout the evening.

Through a combination of live art making and partnerships with artist-driven businesses, this unique night connects visitors to a range of local artists, art makers and business owners.

Misfit Maker & Creative Marketplace is free, open to the public, and family friendly, including a Creative Station - all ages art activities hosted in our classroom during the 2nd Saturday opening reception.
