Ferguson: New Police Practices are Window Dressing To a Systemic Failure

by WeCopwatch
This police strategy both in the first days and more recently is nothing new.

One doesn't need to read the papers to know that Mike Brown will never have a chance to grow up,
and that the police in St Louis exist how they were intended to be.

curfew in ferguson declared by governor and ''state of emergency''. however, the tide cannot be stopped. this will only get encompassing of entire earth. it cannot be stopped by human ''will''.

A general strike would be better, but until we have the strength to carry out at least a regional general strike, and preferably a national general strike to remove guns, tasers, pepper spray, rubber bullets, tear gas and all military hardware from all US police departments, we can sign petitions. The power of the pen is mightier than the sword, and collectively we can make change.

Dear US Attorney General Eric Holder, MO Attorney General Chris Koster, and Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson,

I write demanding full accountability for the police killing of 18-year-old Michael Brown. On August 9th, 2014 a Ferguson police officer racially profiled and fatally shot Michael as the teen stood in the street with his hands in the air. Police subsequently failed to properly notify the family of Michael's death and callously left the young man lying deceased in the street for hours.

This type of brutal and racially-motivated police violence has no place in law enforcement. Every day, Black residents of Ferguson and Missouri face possible abuse and death at the hands of an officer due to discriminatory policing tactics based on dehumanizing racial stereotypes. In order to secure the necessary justice for Michael's family and prevent this type of indefensible violence in the future, you must take immediate action.

Please exercise your authority to complete a rigorous investigation of the Ferguson Police Department's racially discriminatory policing, prosecute said officers to the fullest extent of the law, and begin the firing process for all involved officers

Sincerely,

Tell Congress to reform Section 1033 and stop the flow of military weapons and hardware to local police Congress: The military tactics and weapons used by police have made our communities less safe and escalated tensions in places like Ferguson. It's time for the police to focus on community safety -- rather than intimidating the public.
