Save CCSF Protest: No to the "Special Trustee"!
Students Want Democracy, Not Cuts!
We invite all students, faculty, staff and communities allies to take action in defense of our community college. This Sept. 11, the elected Board of Trustees of City College of San Francisco (CCSF) will vote on a proposal to hand over key decision-making power to an unelected and unaccountable "Special Trustee". This proposal is the most blatant expression of the anti-democratic nature of the current "recommendations" by the WASC accreditation committee. This is exactly how the accreditation process has been so far: top-down and secretive in its decision-making and less accountable to all.
In order to impose their agenda of cuts, cuts, and more cuts, the people in charge of the Community Colleges and CCSF are seeking to rush through an accreditation process in hope that the students and community will not find out about devastating cuts to classes, programs, and jobs in time to do something about it. But there is something we can do to get the administration's attention and prevent the destruction of the mission of CCSF. By organizing more students and building a mass movement to say "No Cuts! Bail Out CCSF! No to the Accreditation Imposition!" we can save CCSF as an affordable, accessible, and democratic community college.
-- Call Initiated by the Save CCSF Coalition and CCSF Ocean Campus Associated Students President Shanell Williams
