An evening with Ms. Chieko Shiina, organic farmer and environmental activist, who founded Fukushima Women Against Nuclear Power on the heels of the earthquake/tsunami/nuclear meltdown in March 2011. She was also one of the lead organizers of the protest encampment in front of the Japanese Ministry of Industry and Economy in Tokyo, which lasted for 10 months and 10 days, traditionally held to be the length of a woman's pregnancy. Ms. Shiina is a longtime nonviolent organizer for social change and environmental rights in Japan.
There will also be a brief report on the spread of radioactivity from Japan to California.
The local event is sponsored by the Resource Center for Nonviolence and Committee to Bridge the Gap. Ms. Shiina's tour of coastal California is a project of the No Nukes Action Action Committee.
