Occupy Wall Street: Protesters Vow to Resist Eviction

by Evan Shamar
City officials plan to put an end to Wall Streets month long occupation of a public park that has inspired similar movements across America, setting the stage for a potential confrontation with law enforcement. The action is slated to take place at 7am, Oct. 14th.

Protestors have vowed to stand their ground despite any attempts to pacify their movement.

Park owners, Brookfield properties, have gone on record stating that the park has become an eye soar, that it is trashed and unsanitary. Demonstrators disagree. “ We spend hours everyday cleaning this park” “This is our home”, said a passionate resident of the occupied space.

City officials have disputed the claims that this is an eviction. They are calling it a clean up, an enforcement of park regulations. A few of those regulations: prohibition on lying down, no tarps or storage of personal property.

The city seems to be in a rush to enforce these rules, as it is apparent that the flourishing number of supporters only confirms that this occupation is showing signs of permanence.
