oakland librarians speak out after anticut 2
anticut 2 took place on friday, june 17. behind a bloc of book shields, anti-austerity protesters marched through downtown oakland, disrupting traffic and temporarily blocking access to citibank and wells fargo, to call attention to the austerity logic that funnels money from public services (like libraries) into private hands (like banks). the march ended at the main branch of the oakland public library, where free food was served and librarians came out to address the crowd. (mp3, 5 min)
