The Village Project Presents “Grilling in the Mo’”
The 4th Annual Fillmore Summer Fest Kick-Off
Saturday, June 11

What: Grilling in the Mo’ is a free family BBQ celebrating the start of summer events and enrichment programs for Western Addition youth. Grab some food, and enjoy the music and performances by the Silver Fox Blues Band, along with performances from The Village Kids Chorus, Hamilton Recreation’s line dancers, a live DJ for dancing, raffles and activities for all.

When: Saturday, June 11, 2011. 12 Noon to 5 p.m.
Where: Hamilton Recreation Center, 1900 Geary @ Steiner
Cost: Free
Who: “Grilling in the ‘Mo” is sponsored by The Village Project, in collaboration with the YMCA, Hamilton Recreation Center, and Mo’ Magic.

Adrian Williams is Executive Director and founder of the Village Project, a service organization focusing on education and cultural enrichment for youth and their families in the Western Addition. The Village Project organizes family events, including this year’s 5th annual Kwanzaa Celebration (Dec. 26 – Jan 1) and most recently, Mardi Gras San Francisco Style/ Fat Tuesday in the Fillmore held on March 8th.

Why: 4th Annual “Summer Fest Kick-Off jump starts a series of free summer concerts and festivals to be held in the historical Fillmore Jazz District, including the city’s Juneteenth Celebration (June 18-19), The Fillmore Jazz Festival (July 2-3), Salsa on the Fillmore (July 15th -16th) and the Fillmore’s first Reggae Festival (August 27th), to name a few.

NOTE: The Village Project will sponsor its 5th all day Summer Enrichment Camp The day camp is free, and is located at St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church, 2097 Turk Street. For more information, visit http://www.thevillageprojectsf.org. The camp will run from June 6th –August 12th for youth 6 to 14 years old.
