On Sustainable Communities Strategy
The San Rafael City Council will hear a presentation on the requirements and possible ramifications of SB 375 and the Sustainable Communities Strategy. ABAG has asked that each city hold a similar informational session with decision makers in advance of the future development strategies being released in March and July. Lacking any specifics at this time about future development forecasts, the report discusses the legislation, anticipated process and some speculative issues.

Film - Por Que Venimos (Why We Come)
Marin Human Rights Activists Present New Documentary
Local filmmakers offer a glimpse into the lives of Latin American migrants living in San Rafael's Canal District.
The Community Media Center of Marin's facilities were used to produce the film, in which migrants tell why they left their homes to endure the arduous journey to El Norte, the United States.
These powerful, often heartbreaking, yet always stirring and inspiring stories offer an intimate look at lives lived at the outer limits of poverty and at the extraordinary courage of ordinary people as they take great risks seeking a better life for their families, especially for their children.
The filmmakers will conduct a discussion following the film.
This presentation is part of an educational documentary project of the Marin Immigrant Rights Coalition's Film Collective. A photography exhibit by Gwendolyn Meyer accompanies the film and is on display at the CMCM throughout the month of February. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and admission is free. For more information call 415/924-3227.
