Mexico: An Eyewitness Report

San Francisco, CA 94109

This final branch meeting of the year will feature an eyewitness educational on Mexico by Dr. Bob Price, City College of San Francisco professor who traveled to Mexico City earlier this year.

Mexico will mark two milestones in 2010: two hundred years of independence from Spain and one hundred years since the Revolution that ended the dictatorship of Porfirio Díaz and turned many foreign-owned lands over to rural workers. For most Mexicans, there’s little to celebrate, with a neo-liberal government determined to destroy unions and privatize public holdings, a drug war that takes 22 lives each day, and US attacks on those who must cross the border to survive.

Don’t miss this first-hand reportback on the heroic fight-back being waged across the border by electrical workers, miners, radicals and women, and share your own observations and ideas on how the people of Mexico can win against the ravages of free trade.

A delicious homemade lunch will be served at 12:15pm for an $8 donation. The meeting is free and will be held at New Valencia Hall (address below). Everyone is welcome.
