Christian Anti-Choice Activists Will Be in Santa Cruz
Christian anti-abortion activists will rally from 6:30-7:30pm this Tuesday at the corner of Cedar and Cathcart in downtown Santa Cruz to kick-off their "40 Days for Life Campaign." They plan to stage "vigils" at Planned Parenthood for the next 40 days. It's up to us to make them decide otherwise.
"40 Days for Life" is a Christian anti-abortion campaign running September 22–October 31 in 238 cities in the US, Canada, Australia, England, Northern Ireland and Denmark. It involves 40 days of "vigil" at abortion facilities. There have been six coordinated 40 Days for Life campaigns since 2007. They claim that "six abortion facilities completely shut down following local 40 Days for Life campaigns."
These Christian fundamentalists think that it is their God-given duty to "end abortion." If you care about the right of individuals to make their own choices, about women having control over their own bodies, and about confronting patriarchal behavior and ideology: you should think about how you want to counteract the anti-abortionists.
