CHOWCHILLA, outside looking in, killing HATE with LOVE as the DEVIL favors incarceration.

by Francisco Da Costa
Some of us over coming great hurdles - gather whatever resources we have and travel 160 miles to CHOWCHILLA the WOMEN"S STATE JAIL. In all our previous missions - we entered the premises, met and touched the inmates. In humility reported details of our mission. This time the authorities went at great length to clear our group - the core group being the same - and when we reached the enterence - were told that we could not go in - because we had not reached on time. We had until 3 pm to volunteer our services - but the man in charge thought we should have been there by 11 am - and we arrived a little after 12 noon. The inmates were awaiting our arrival and the moment of denial - brought tears and heart throbs to those volunteers - a class group of dedicated - women and men

Over 4000 women inmates are incarcerated at the Chowchilla Women's State Prison. Not far away from the prison we choose to visit there is another prison - were another 4000 plus women prisoners are incarcerated.

In all some 8000 women inmates - many of them that can be set free - and over forty percent of them - incarcerated because they are innocent - and were not given the right legal help for their defense - as I have written so many times about.

Our Nation the United States of America loves incarcerating people - and it does not matter to the many judges to make innocent people plead guilty and send them to jail - to linger there for years. Our Nation has just realized that a full five percent of our total growing population is incarcerated. Our total population is a little over 300 million in the United States of America.

A full seven percent and some say ten percent have gone to jail. Some released and others lingering for years - with little or no rehabilitation.

Incarceration is a trillion dollar business - and large corporations invest in stocks and shares - to make incarceration look good - but work the backs of our poor, mostly folks of color, investing and making BLOOD money.

California prides itself with its EVIL - Three Strikes Law - and boasting that it has a very large population that is incarcerated. Many lingering in unkempt condition. Many piled in gyms - like sardines. Federal Judges have mandated their early release - especially those elderly victims both women and men - that are so old that they cannot swat a fly. But who cares.

The many Correctional Officers make huge sums of money - and many in these group are half decent. But, the ones that are EVIL are the ones that boast their nonsense on their websites - that I read - and the material will send shills down one's spine.

But, more then many Correctional Officers, that become who they do daily, abusive - will use force, rape, assaults, beating, depriving basic essentials, many inhumane treatments - that are against the Human Rights laid out by the United Nations and World Government - that have rules and regulations - and by the Geneva Convention that spells out many of these rules and regulations - in detail, about inhumane treatment.

Our trip on May 22, 2010 after having gathered in San Francisco and travlled some 160 miles away - with little resources - and loose logistics (that we must tighten because of this recent episode) left us outside and failed to permit us to go inside to visit the Chowchilla Women's State Prison.

There are resources within the San Francisco Department of Children, Families and Youth - some $600,000 plus but this Department and our City and County of San Francisco - has failed in its humanity, its willingness to serve a population - that needs help most.

We have 8000 women inmates incarcerated and NOT once has our City and County addressed these two jails, other jails, and our own county jails - to full comprehend the plight of our women.

We have a Women Commission but they are concerned with other mundane issues - where they can get their two minutes of fame - pandering to Mayor Gavin Newsom and his lackeys.

Our San Francisco Board of Supervisors - with all the spewing of hot air, diatribe, do not care to understand the plight of those that are incarcerated - many hailing from San Francisco. Many talk the talk but fail to walk the walk.

I would like to ask the San Francisco Women's Commission what have they done to serve our women in the various jails? The answer will be a resounding NOTHING?

If I ask what the Mayor, Mayor Gavin Newsom has done to - address in detail the incarceration of our Women in the various jails - and that includes Chowchilla Women's State Jail - the answer will be a resounding - NOTHING.

The Human Rights Commission has an obligation to find out what is happening. But, they too are caught up with the many issues - that they think are important and others - think not.

United Playaz and Rudy Corpuz has gone out of his way to serve thousands at San Quentin Men's Prison, San Bruno County Jail, Chowchilla Women's State Prison, the other prisons too many to mention. I have accompanied him on many of these missions - and recorded the details for all to read.

I have got hundreds of comments from other countries, Australia, Sweden, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Ghana, Nigeria, Korea, Fiji, Samoa - and many other countries and States. At first I was surprised until I googled and found out - very few dare to write the TRUTH about our jails and less about our mothers, sisters, grandmothers - brothers and fathers - that are jailed.

Society, in San Francisco once reigned supreme in the Nation and the World in COMPASSION.

Our City is named after San Francis Assisi. The rich, the many who live in San Francisco at one time - came forward and gave generously to those causes that helped the incarcerated. Foundations have generously - not any more. Foundations, now cater to groups that have deep connections and where they can have their five minutes of fame.

While billions of dollars are made on the backs of the incarcerated - very little money is set aside to give unique opportunities from qualified groups - doing preventative work to take steps to visit the jails and foster an environment - that prevents those incarcerated from first repeating their previous crimes - and secondly - putting their future in jeopardy.

Once freed - few organizations have a holistic approach to help those incarcerated. Those few that receive money - make sure that administrative staff are well cared for. It is business as usual - the once that need help - get mostly shafted. This nonsense must stop.

We did go to Chowchilla State Women's Prision and we did conduct our own Ceremony of the Circle giving thanks to the Almighty - right in the Parking Lot for all to see. And, even though with tears in our eyes - we suffered some and were in pain - we still send the strongest vibes - that penetrated the wall and reached our dear sisters - whom, we could not see - and they felt us and that was all that mattered.

Kudos to the Healing Circle, Rudy Corpuz and United Playaz, the most other talented artist, the Samoan contingent that thought they could be with the many incarcerated Polynesians, our Black Sisters and Brother, our White representative, the many others that sacrificed to get the clearances.

On another level that is a FORCE that see it all - those walls that stand up now - will fall and those that think they have power and abuse it - will have their time in HELL for all eternity. Now, we think we it different - but there is a LAW that is above mundane laws - and that is what counts in LIFE. Enjoy the photographs and when I am touched - I thought a poem was in order.

Life is for the living
Not the living dead
In this Society
Greed means everything
To many - and more to
those in vain, Authority

To our women, whom we
LOVE, we will stand by you
Incarcerated or not
We know there is HOPE
HOPE inside those deary walls
HOPE, standing by you - we will
OVERCOME

CHOWCHILLA -here we come
again, but this time it will be
BETTER
We will sound our clarion horns
and topple the walls of injustice
just like the walls of Jericho
Remembering
Those incarcerated are human
and in humanity - there must
be COMPASSION - first

In my short sojourn in this world
I have seen it all
WE, will never ever - give up HOPE
WE, will never fail to fight INJUSTICE
To my good friend Rudy Corpus
To the Healing Circle of Mothers
To the many Brothers and Sisters
The LORD has chosen us
to defeat EVIL and with that all that
comes withing the jurisdiction
of that EVIL regime

God Bless You All.
