Senator Leland Yee begins his campaign for second term as Senator with a bang and more.

by Francisco Da Costa
Senator Leland Yee has served San Francisco, well - in many capacities. He is nearing his first term as Senator in Sacramento having before that served two terms as a Assembly Person. His second term will be easy win - but no good politician wants to think he will be an easy shoo in - so this campaign begins with a bang - complete with Lion Dancers, Good Food, lot of embracing and hugging - but most of all the Senator promising to work for all the people - especially those that need help - most.

John Burton was there to introduce himself and Senator Leland Yee as Senator Leland Yee begins his campaign for his second term as Senator in Sacramento - before he terms out.

Senator Leland Yee has served all of San Francisco well - he understands his constituents - does not rush into judgment - and always, always will work hard for those that can least defend themselves.

The many politicians that attended the rally at the Recreation Center on Lawton Street in the Avenues - has to brave the chilly weather and some very light sprinkles.

That is how it is the Avenues - while the rest of the City the Sun shines brightly - one has to wear warm clothes to brave the weather - nearer the Pacific Ocean.

The hundreds of people were there to meet the Senator and to listen to what he had to say. He promised help to the poor, assured that he would fight for benefits as he had before - saying he had to answer to the constituents he represents.

On the stage you had Polynesians, Blacks and among them Espanola Jackson, Whites, Asians, and the others that make up the diversity of our great City and County of San Francisco.

The UNION members were there trying to vie for the Senator's attention. Some of the Union members were on the stage with the Senator - and judging from the many statements they made - Senator Leland Yee does not have to worry about Union support.

Senator Leland Yee has supported us with issues linked to Hunters Point and we know him and thank him for his steadfast, support. I know he will continue to support us and in doing so our children, our Seniors, those that have fallen prey to Big Development in the Bayview.

Three members of the Stop Lennar Action Movement were present Pastor Alex Toeaina, Marie Harrison, and myself. There were other representatives from the Bayview too - pointing to all concerned that Senator Leland Yee really cares about issues - especially Quality of Life issues- all over San Francisco.

The hundreds that were there were glad to hear the Senator speak to them from the heart. Senator Leland Yee likes to walk the walk - we cannot say that of the many politicians that were present at the event from San Francisco - many of them just talk the talk.

Senator Leland Yee must now prepare himself for his second term - before he terms out. Senator Leland Yee will get his second term - and there might be an opportunity to be Mayor of San Francisco and then the gods may be favorable to him.

That would be nice - the Senator leaving Sacramento to come to San Francisco City Hall and occupying Room 200.

All in all a nice day - where all were wishing the Senator the very best of everything. Enjoy the photographs:
