SFSU Occupation Evening Solidarity, 12/9/09: photos (1 of 3)
San Francisco State University students occupied the College of Business building and barricaded the doors from the inside at about 4am on December 9th, 2009. On the outside, students and other supporters protected the occupation by blocking the doors with their bodies throughout 24-hour occupation.
The occupiers' choice to shut down the Business building was to symbolize "no more business as usual" in the current educational environment in California and across the nation where budget cuts, staff layoffs, defunded programs, reductions in the number of admissions, and student fee increases grow dramatically worse while war and prison budgets continue unabated.
Despite dropping temperatures and light rain in the early morning hours, demonstrators maintained their vigil outside of the building, sharing food, coffee, blankets and camaraderie as they stood in solidarity with the occupiers.
