Military readies checkpoints for swine flu pandemic after citizens are acclimated to accept presence of uniformed soldiers undertaking law enforcement duties
Under the pretext of “helping” local communities short of police in difficult economic times, as well as preparations for a potential swine flu pandemic, U.S. troops are now occupying America as the country sinks into a state of de facto martial law.

President who promised "change" backs renewal of Bush-era Patriot Act provisions
President Barack Obama has once again betrayed his promise to restore liberties eviscerated by the Bush regime by pushing Congress to renew Patriot Act provisions that allow for warrantless spying on American citizens, even in cases where there is no link to terrorism whatsoever.

Langton Labs, 9 Langton St, San Francisco, CA 4154401792 info [at] sciencecafesf.com
Equilibrium is new event from the folks at Langton Labs and Down to a

singular theme. Kicking off the series will be "LOVE"
When you arrive, you'll be able to play with some love-inspired
interactive art, mingle with liked-minded nerds, and of course visit
the bar (stocked with special aphrodisiac cocktails). At 8, we'll dive
into the talks: You'll here about neurophysiology of love, what it
takes to keep love alive in a relationship, and more than you ever
wanted to know about the online dating world. Around 930, Steve Taylor

And their might even be a guest DJ to help close the night, just so
your feet has a chance to catch up with your brain. It's going to be
nerdtacular minus the action figures.

Thursday, September 24 7:30 PM NICK DOUGLAS -- Twitter Wit -- LIVE Twitter Feed, and guests including podcaster Scott Simpson, designer Mike Monteiro, and Michael Ferguson The Booksmith 1644 Haight St FREE In Twitter Wit, Nick Douglas has collected the best tweets out there. Douglas has assembled these aphorisms to champion the wit and wisdom that is shared among Twitter users. Funny, astute, and perfectly economical, these 140-character pieces of perspective reveal how Twitter users can be philosophical, hilarious, and literary in a way that appeals to our contemporary (short) attention span. With submissions ranging from quotidian vignettes like “I bet in Sweden the Ikea instructions are in English,” to bumper sticker-type quips like “I think the bird of love is the dove. My husband thinks it’s the swallow,” Twitter Wit has something in it that we can all relate to. And with contributors ranging from celebrities like Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, Rainn Wilson, Russell Brand and John Hodgman to regular people with previously unappreciated sharp tongues, readers are sure to find new Twitter users to follow. Featuring a foreword by Twitter co-founder Biz Stone, this authorized anthology of the thousand most clever and memorable tweets relates the diversity of human experience in hilarious bite-sized pieces. Nick Douglas is a technology writer and humorist known for bringing a sarcastic viewpoint to the usually dry world of tech journalism. The founding editor of Valleywag, Gawker Media’s blog about Silicon Valley, Douglas has also written for Wired, Slate, and the Huffington Post, among others. Douglas boasts over 9,000 followers on Twitter, making him one of the top 200 users on the site. He lives in New York City. Visit his website http://www.toomuchnick.com

CALLING ALL ARTISTS AND FREEDOM-LOVERS TO EPHEMERISLE! - OCTOBER 2-4 Between Stockton and Antioch.
Imagine a small Burning Man event that takes place on the water. That's pretty much what Ephemerisle sounds like it's shaping up to be. Now, this has nothing *officially* to do with Burning Man. But UNofficially, the organizers certainly are employing and applying Burning Man's Ten Principles, and doing so in spades. Great idea! Check it out:
"Ephemerisle will be the first-ever floating festival of politics, community, and art that will be held October 2-4 on California's Sacramento River Delta.
People will bring their crafts and their ideas to build an eclectic temporary village of boats, rafts, barges, junks, and other floating structures. A large central platform will be provided as a common space to come together. We'll have music, dance, open mic performances, classes on how to build your own floating platform... and on Saturday night, a community feast to begin the evening's festivities.
But this is just the beginning: This will not be a spectator event, though there will be plenty to see. As on the playa, participants will bring their own art, activities, ideas, and love of community and freedom. YOU will define what Ephemerisle turns out to be.
A grant program is also available to help participants offset the costs of floating platforms, boats, or thematic art. For more information, visit

Maximum Alert: U.S. Troops Now Occupying America

Obama Pushes For Renewal Of Warrantless Spying On Americans
President who promised "change" backs renewal of Bush-era Patriot Act provisions
President Barack Obama has once again betrayed his promise to restore liberties eviscerated by the Bush regime by pushing Congress to renew Patriot Act provisions that allow for warrantless spying on American citizens, even in cases where there is no link to terrorism whatsoever.

Down to a Science - A San Francisco Science Cafe $10 Thursday, September 24, 7-11pm
Langton Labs, 9 Langton St, San Francisco, CA 4154401792 info [at] sciencecafesf.com
Equilibrium is new event from the folks at Langton Labs and Down to a
Science. Every month, we'll craft a unique experience all around a
singular theme.
Around 930, Steve Taylor
takes the stage with a special acoustic set of his inspired tracks.
And their might even be a guest DJ to help close the night, just so
your feet has a chance to catch up with your brain. It's going to be
nerdtacular minus the action figures.
Tickets are $8 online: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/81462
$10 at the door. There will be a cash bar as well.
