KPFA Local Station Board Secretary Refuses To Post Minutes Of LSB For Four Months

Susan McDonough, an employee of the Alameda Central Labor Council, a supporter of the "Concerned Listener's" KPFA grouping and married to fellow board member Warren Mar is also the secretary of the KPFA Board of Directors. She is responsible for putting the minutes of meetings on the KPFA LSB web site. Like the former CL supporter she replaced she has refused to post the minutes of the board meetings for the public and members of the KPFA Local Station Board. Her contempt for democracy and her refusal to carry out her responsibilities are another example of the hypocrisy of the Democratic party Wellstone club which helped fund the Concerned Listeners slate. You can reach her at the Alameda Central Labor Council and ask her why the minutes have not been posted since November 2008. If she can't do the minutes she should resign her position.
She also supported eliminating monthly meetings of the KPFA Local Station Board so they could "get more work done". This obviously does not include the work of putting the minutes of their board meetings on the website in a timely fashion.

KPFA, the first listener-sponsored, community radio station in the United States, has emerged from a fierce struggle to preserve its local autonomy and its mission of peace and social justice. A major achievement in this struggle was the establishment of elected Local Station Boards at KPFA and throughout the Pacifica network.
Unlike the former local advisory board, the new Station Board has acquired important powers to better represent listeners, staff and volunteers. It is responsible for reviewing the station budget, helping to choose the station manager, and selecting Pacifica National Board directors from among its own members.
The Local Station Board holds monthly open meetings to which the public is invited and which include public comment periods.
