Wave of Occupations Spread Across British Universities in Solidarity with Gaza
A wave of occupations has spread across UK Universities in order to protest and highlight the human crisis in Gaza. All occupations are peaceful, organised in a democratic and non-hierarchical manner, and have issued concrete demands to the respective universities (scholarships for Palestinians, withdrawal of investment in Israeli industries, issuing of public statements condemning Israel's actions etc.)

University managers have generally reacted with hostility, threats and ultimatums, condemning the occupations as unacceptable ruptures in the smooth flow of the neoliberal university machine. 'Security' in Cambridge have been photographing occupants, harrassing them for their details and confiscating their food supplies on 'health and safety' ground.
The University of Nottingham is haughtily refusing to enter into negotiations, and has locked down the building the occupation is in, after cutting all electricity except lights for a period.
If you want to help, you can email the Director of Student Operations & Services Division at stephen.dudderidge [at] nottingham.ac.uk and the Vice-Chancellor at david.greenaway [at] nottingham.ac.uk to tell them what you think of their response to a legitimate student protest.
