Raging Grannies Documentary Launch
Those kooky, quirky, lovable Raging Grannies with their inimitable style showed up to help launch the Cinequest Film Festival...all indie all the time!
The film's director Pam Walton was on hand and ready to face the press as well. The Grannies passed out "Raging Granny Groupie" buttons to a flock of fans and folks newly converted to their causes too.

Cinequest's launch party venue came as a bit of a shock to our home-grown Grannies, many of whom eke out their retirement years on a teacher's pension. Held in the "88" Entertainment Center in downtown San Jose, one of the Grannies called the posh party "Santana Row-esque". The Grannies have demonstrated against Israel's attacks on Gaza and private property ownership of city streets in Santana Row's high-end shopping district in recent months.
The day after the launch party, San Jose Mercury entertainment writer Sal Pizarro said of Cinequest's film offerings, "...there's plenty of candidates for the 'out there' audience, but I'm putting the spotlight on the Raging Grannies, those peace-loving Bay Area women who use eye-catching clothes and a little street theater to protest their causes."
Could there be a more perfect place for the *Raging Grannies* premiere than San Jose's Cinequest? The documentary promises an inside look at lives lived on the leftie scene in the South Bay where the Grannies have been especially active for the cause of immigrant rights.
