San Francisco Chronicle Building, 901 Mission St (corner of Fifth and Mission Streets), San Francisco, 94107. One block from Market Street bus lines, one block from Powell Street BART station.
The San Francisco Chronicle, the paper of record for the entire Bay Area, has aggressively refused to question Nancy Pelosi on her many questionable acts of the last few years: her approval of the CIA's secret prisons and torture; her support for warrantless wiretapping, offshore drilling, the Wall Street bailout... But nothing has been so maddening as the Chronicle's refusal to challenge Pelosi's "impeachment is off-the-table" edict. In 2006, 58% of San Francisco voters passed an "Impeach-Bush-and-Cheney" resolution. Pelosi responded: "Off-the-table." The Chronicle shrugged. This is unacceptable. Since mid-September, Brad Newsham (organizer of the Beach Impeach events) and a group of fellow, sign-carrying protesters, have been walking circles around the Chronicle building at lunch hour, to protest the Chronicle's intransigence. On October 23, "Peace Mom" Cindy Sheehan will join the group. And YOU are invited. This will be a short event, to facilitate downtown office workers on lunch hour. Cindy will arrive at noon, and we're expecting the "other" media (not the Chron) at noon also. The walking will start promptly at 12:20 and end at 12:40. BRING: Your self. Your friends. And, if you can, placards that express your feelings about Pelosi's failure to represent the people of the Bay Area; about the Chronicle's failure to report on Pelosi's failure; and about your feelings that now is the time to send Cindy Sheehan to Washington instead of Nancy Pelosi.
