It was ridiculous of the Power to the Peaceful to ban political campaigning. I believe there are many 501C3 groups can and regularly do have overt political campaigning at them. It the 501C3 means that people like Cindy Sheehan and Cynthia McKinney can't campaign at the festival what is the point of being a 501C3?

Depoliticizing the event is not the answer.
If no politicial campaigning was allowed how do the organzisers justify Lynn Woolsey , a Democart who is running for reelection to congress, speaking ?
It's true that her district doesn't cover SF but so what ? Many people came from all over the Bay Area including, no doubt, Woolsey's district . Also she is a strong supporter of Obama . Didn't she mention him in her speech ? There's another problem . She's not really for ''peace'' ! She, like Obama , isn't for bringing the troops home . She is for redeploying them to Afghanstan (and maybe attacking Pakistan ) to win the '' Good war''
i hope i am wrong but i'm afraid that all this has more to do with Franti's recent endorsement of Obama than real concern about their non profit status .

massacres were taking place.

Good work Michael Franti.

I wish the organizers would do more to warn kids about the hard drugs that were being sold during the concert as there were quite a few ODs and young kids having bad trips (I witnessed a few around the woods area). I had one guy ask me if I wanted to buy some "hell". I wasn't sure I heard him right and he ask the same question again. After declining the offer I later heard this same guy talking about the types of LSD with another guy.

Though I know the organizers are looking for a peaceful, fun event, there are always idiots present at this concert trying to sell their harmful crap. I wish the organizers would make a statement early on about the dangers of hard drugs to the audience. It is a real bummer seeing 16-year-old girls and boys freaking out from a bad trip in front of you. Nothing peaceful or fun about that.

franti is a fraud.

he supports obama who supports a intensification of the war in afghanistan, bombings of Pakistan, war-talk against iran, standard-issue denunciations of chavez, and ass-kissing to israel.

this event is worse than useless. fuck the democrats. fuck latter-day hippie fools. fuck michael franti's con game.
