Police Raid House on Riverside Avenue in Santa Cruz, Again
Details are quite sketchy, but on August 7th, police raided a home on the 700 block of Riverside Avenue in Santa Cruz. It is the same home that was raided on February 24, 2008. In the February raid, police assert that the home, or the people who were inside of it, were somehow connected to what they proclaim are animal rights activists that held a protest that allegedly ended with a scuffle at a UC Santa Cruz researcher's house. The raid on August 7th was apparently carried out by at least the Department of Justice, FBI, and UCSC police.
While police removed belongings from the front house on the property, other people were loading their items into trucks parked in front of the house. The people in the back house happened to be moving out at the same time that the police decided to raid the house in the front. Apparently nobody was home at the front house during the raid. The following photos were taken at about 7pm.

A brief notice of the August 7th raid was posted to the newswire of Santa Cruz Indymedia:

Wonder which police agency gets to cruise around in a Charger R/T? If that's a take home vehicle, I'm there...
It's for work purposes only! That tall pickup looks like an F350? I suppose if you need to haul stuff, that's handy.
Does anyone have a handy flow-chart of the difference branches of law enforcement? In another newswire article, they showed photos of the post office police conducting marijuana drug raids with guns. What do the Department of Justice police specialize in?
Anti-Terrorism
At 17 miles per gallon, only as long as the government's also paying for gas. Why would the government be issuing old-style, gas-guzzling muscle cars in the Bay Area anyway, (where there is absolutely no place to drive that fast, unless you're out at 3:00 AM) Maybe so they can chase the terrorists around Sears Point?
Then yes, they will pay for your gas... besides... FBI coming down from Frisco can speed down 280...mmmmmm...
Today, the FBI continued their harrassment of above-ground animal rights activists and visited an individual in the East Bay.
If the FBI visited someone, especially with Animal Rights-related questions, it'd be a good idea to publicize the hell out of it. Especially with the Long Haul raid the other day.
