SF Art Institute - Response to "art critic"

by Mat Thomas (mathomas [at] gmail.com)
Should we outlaw killing animals for "art"? I say YES
For those who support San Francisco's Humane Art Ordinance ( http://www.sfweekly.com/2008-05-14/news/animal-welfare-commission-wants-to-outlaw-cruel-art/ ), I posted some new writing on my blog about the animals-in-art issue. Basically, it's my response to an angry "art critic" who says preventing people from killing animals for art amounts to censorship and loss of (human) freedom. Personally, I found his emails quite amusing, and perhaps you will, too. Check it out: he's even nicknamed me "Ayatollah Mat" because of my animal rights beliefs. To read his emails and my responses, scroll down towards the end of my original post ( http://animalrighter.blogspot.com/2008/05/answering-san-francisco-art-institutes.html ).

I hope you'll find this exchange entertaining (or at least provocative), and would be interested in any feedback you have.

For the animals,

Mat Thomas
