Castro Senior Center Discussion Group

Discussion Group for LGBT Seniors at the Castro Senior Center. July 15, 12:30. Lunch is at the Senior Center, 110 Diamond Street at 18th Street in the basement of Holy Redeemer Church, starting at 11:30 – call to reserve a lunch (see below).

Whether you are in the closet or out, partnered or single, outgoing or shy...we hope you will join us for the opportunity to get to know each other and build community. The topic for this month is Religion and Spirituality. Religious institutions in our society continue to debate whether we as LGBT people are, on the one hand, sinners, a threat to the moral fabric of our society, and something to be “cured” or, on the other hand, to be welcomed and included as fully equal human beings. Many LGBT people have experienced religion as a source of pain and rejection. But we also see gay and straight alike in our society seeking a spirituality of their own making. Whether it’s a walk in nature, gathering with others, meditation – what replenishes you?

This Castro Senior Center group for LGBT seniors meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. You can come once or each time. You don’t need to be a member or join anything. We have had a great turnout and hope you will gather with us to create community! Facilitated by Nancy Flaxman.
