WHY WE ARE PICKETING

We, in BRIGADAS CONTRA REDADAS, (Brigades Against the Raids) oppose turning the Mission District where we live into a police state.

While our jet-set Mayor Newsom, cuts out city services like homeless
shelters, the police are getting all their funding...though crime never seems to go down.

Swarms of police suddenly appear to attack street vendors, youth on street
corners...arresting people because they "look like" they are criminals or don't
move quickly enough.
The I.C.E.-MIGRA police are allowed twice a week to arrest undocumented immigrants in SF

Then they can be deported....
because San Francisco is not really a "Sanctuary City".

We believe undocumented people are not criminals, though the Migra-ICE treats them like that...

All over the United States, undocumented people are being attacked and deported by the new Secret Police.
There is a culture of violence and murder in our society expressed in movies, video games and the actions of our government. It's easy for the politicians to talk about democracy...while Fascism begins to erase democratic freedoms.

We need to reclaim our neighborhoods!

The real estate speculators who are gradually taking over the Mission District through yuppification and high priced condos do not like poor people.
The result is that poor people and even middle class people can no longer afford to live in the Mission District.

We do not need more police!
We need training and jobs for our children!

We will be picketing the SFPD the first Tuesday of every month
until we receive
clear assurance that the ICE-MIGRA will not be allowed to remove
undocumented immigrants from the County Jail.
