Marijuana Policy Project Alert: Calif.
June 18, 2008
The California state Senate will soon be voting on Sen. Carole
Migden's (D-San Francisco) Senate Joint Resolution (SJR) 20.
This important resolution condemns the federal government's
raids and threats of asset forfeiture on legitimate medical marijuana
providers. SJR 20 also calls on Congress and the president to swiftly
enact a policy that respects the medical marijuana laws in states like
California.
Please take a few minutes to contact your state senator today and urge
him or her to vote for SJR 20.
Visit http://control.mpp.org/site/R?i=-PxYfO90CkLR1jKM2ltIzg.. to make your call.
The vote may take place within the next couple of days, so please take
action right away.
Once this resolution is approved by the Senate, it heads to the
Assembly for final approval. Since it is a nonbinding resolution, it
doesn't require the governor's signature.
Passage of SJR 20 will send a strong message to the federal government that
California's voters and their legislature don't want
compassionate providers of medicine treated like common criminals.
Calling your senator is easy. Just visit MPP's action page and
enter your zip code or street address to obtain contact information
for your senator; a script is provided to help guide you through your
call. If you are directed to voice mail, please leave a message.
Thank you for taking action to support medical marijuana access and
California's right to self-determination. Making contact with
your legislator is one of the most effective ways to help change the
laws.
Please don't forget to forward this message on to other
compassionate Californians, so that they too can take action.
Sincerely,
Aaron Smith
