Another Mayday video
A small group of Minutemen goons cause a scene at City College Mayday protests. This video is just under 3 minutes.
All right, so, another Mayday has come and gone again, and of course a couple different cells of the Scar Media Collective once again went out to hit the streets to cover the days activities for San Diego Indymedia.
This particular cell, being the gluttons for punishment that we are, spent a good chunk of the day monitoring the racist vigilante Minutemen. A lot of other pretty cool things happened during the course of the day, that we will edit and post soon, however this video focuses on our misadventures with these soulless haters of all that is Mexican. Unfortunately, none of the A-list Minutemen (Jeff Schwilk, Christie, Gabriel Pollock…..etc..) bothered to grace us with their presence at City College leaving us to whoop it up with a ragtag collection of random wannabe second stringers, most of whose names we don’t even know.
The main (b-list) star of this particular video is an older “gentlemen” who we call “Gramps” ( he insists that we call him “Grampa”). I first met Gramps in National City back in 2006 at a Minuteman anti-immigration rally when several of us were pepper-sprayed by Minuteman Gabriel Pollock. As a few of us were laying on the ground, basically attempting to recover from the pain, Gramps took the opportunity to lay down partially on top of us us, and proceeded to imitate and mock us. Yes, this guy is super creepy, and to this day, he still takes every opportunity to taunt us, as well as threaten us with pepper spray (as does San Diego Minuteman founder , Jeff Schwilk).
Anyways…., as this video begins you’ll see a small group of Mayday protesters taking the opportunity to pose for a funny group photo with the Minutemen in the background. You’ll notice that none of the Minutemen seem to be that upset about the situation. Keep that in mind because at the end of the video the Minutemen are trying to claim that they were violently pushed around by these young people. Shortly after this non-incident, one of the other b-list Minutemen starts to rattle off a bunch of anti-immigrant rhetoric, and when I attempt to go ask him to repeat what he was saying, all of a sudden, Gramps flips his wig and starts blasting his bullhorn in my face in an obvious effort to provoke something (complete with his obligatory pepper spray taunts and threats). As Gramps sneaks off, Ron Hinton, a creepy minuteman video blogger (Aztlan Buster on you tube)
moves in.
Gramps apparently snuck off to go to the rallys speakers podium with his bullhorn and pepper-spray in hand and caused some kind of disturbance that got him escorted away by security, at which point he suddenly remembered that those photo-taking protesters from earlier had actually violently attacked him.
So that’s pretty much what went down with the Minutemen. I swear these goofballs would almost be laughable with their zany antics if it weren’t for their racist ideas and aggressive behavior .
