The Coalition in Defense of Immigrants Rights (CDIR) –USA and the Alliance-Philippines (AJLPP) will go all out for mass actions today, May 1 in major U.S. cities to commemorate International Workers Day and demand full rights and legalization for immigrants and all workers..

In major cities like Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, New York.Oakland, Fresno, San Diego, Oxnard and Chicago, Filipino Americans are joining up with their Latino immigrant allies to protest ICE raids and anti-immigrant bashing. They will also demand legalization and full rights for all immigrants.

ALL OUT ON MAY 1st-: US WIDE ACTIONS SET

Los Angeles—The Coalition in Defense of Immigrants Rights (CDIR) –USA and the Alliance-Philippines (AJLPP) will go all out for mass actions today, May 1 in major U.S. cities to commemorate International Workers Day and demand full rights and legalization for immigrants and all workers..

In major cities like Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, New York.Oakland, Fresno, San Diego, Oxnard and Chicago, Filipino Americans are joining up with their Latino immigrant allies to protest ICE raids and anti-immigrant bashing. They will also demand legalization and full rights for all immigrants.

Joint MIWON/March 25th and April 7 Coalition March/Rally

In Los Angeles, California the newly formed Filipino American For Immigration Reform (FAIR) with the Pilipino Workers Center will march form PWC in 153 Glendale, Historic Filipnotown to Macarthur Park and join the MIWON Contingent that will march form Macarthur Park to downtown Broadway.

On the other hand, the April 7 Coalition composed of Hermanidad Mexicana and Latino Movement –USA and ANSWER-LA will march together with the March 25 Coalition in Olympic and Broadway at around 2;00 PM/ The two contingents will meet at 5th and Broadway Street to downtown LA.

All force will converge on Los Angeles civic center on 1st street and Temple near the city hall for a program tha will lat until 8;00 in the evening. The LAPD estmates the crowd to be around 15,000 to 100,000. Los Angeles city mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is pesonally monitoring the May Day activities to avoid the LAPD riot agaianst the people last year in Macarthur Park.

In the south, in San Diego, the community will gather at City College, march down Broadway to Pantoja Park, and then the day's events will continue with a public assembly at Memorial Park at Oceanview and 30th There is also another rally ion Oxnard.

In Northern California

In San Francisco, under the broad theme of Workers Uniting Without Borders –Amnesty for All, protesters will gather in San Francisco on Thursday, May 1st for a 2:00pm rally in Dolores Park, a 3:30pm march to Civic Center, and a 5:00pm rally and musical performance. Another grp

In Santa Cruz, march participants will wear green in solidarity with campus workers. There will be a 12pm rally in Quarry Plaza, followed by a march to a 4pm Celebration in San Lorenzo Park. Another group, the ILPS strength in Unity contingent will also join the May Day activities in San Francisco and Oakland.

An Immigrant Rights May Day March in Oakland will gather at 3 pm at Fruitvale BART Plaza for a march down International Blvd. to a 6pm rally at Oakland City Hall (14th & Broadway). In San Jose, an Immigrants Being Active Participants in Change march will gather at 4pm in the Mi Pueblo Foods parking lot (Story and King Roads) and will head down King Road and Santa Clara Street to San José City Hall (Santa Clara and 5th Streets).

In Fresno, a March for Immigrant Rights will gather at 3pm in the Fulton Mall Free Speech Area, with plans for a 5pm march.

On the other hand, thye poprst workers in the West Coast led by the ILWU longshoremen, will hold a one day strike and walk-out to protest the war in Iraq and celebrate May Day. The ports of Long Beach, San Pedro, San Francisco, Oakland and Seattle wil lbe closed today, May Day.

In the North West, Midwest and East Coast

In Chicago the Marcha Primero De Mayo and the March 10 Movement for the rights of immigrant and all workers will march to Union Park (Ashland and Lake) from different marching pints all over the city.. Fil-Am groups like th Committee on Pilipino Issues and AFIRE will join the activites.

In Seattle, the march led by Comite Pro Amnestia will march with the AJLPP/ ANSWER –Seattle from the St. Mary Church to downtown Seattle to demand full immigrant rights and legalization for all immigrants..

In New York, the march led by Immigrant groups will assemble form Roosevelt Park Chinatown Queens. New York to march to the Union Square in downtown New York. Filipino immigrants led by DAMAYAN and youth group UGNAYAN will march with the group.
