by MoveOn14
Californians say that Getting Out of Iraq is Best Way to Help the Economy!
Teachers and students from Redwood City and Menlo Park Announced Results of

The MoveOn Council 14 Street Action Team is made up of teachers and students who say that our education system suffers while we continue to spend billions on the Iraq War.

They presented the results of a just published MoveOn.org poll to a crowd that included students on their way home from Sequoia High School in Redwood City. Members of the Raging Grannies Action League were on hand with a
counter-recruiting message which they imparted as teachable moments arose. Vietnam era vets spoke, the Raging Grannies led a sing-along, and all were kept busy with interviews from TV and newspaper outlets.

On this day the Raging Grannies chose to display their
Las Abuelitas Enojadas sign. Just about one year ago they demonstrated at this very spot against ICE raids.

James Stutts is a Vietnam era vet who had to get Congresswoman Anna Eshoo to help him get the benefits that he was owed. He showed the crowd the thick folder of letters that he accumulated in his pursuit of his benefits. Later the Raging Grannies repeated his story as they counter-recruited Sequoia H.S. students who came by.

Granny Gail is a retired teacher, now a very active counter-recruiter. She didn't miss a step when this young man happened by. He told us his name is Cameron and that some of his friends were talking about enlisting following high school. After hearing about recruiter lies he joined in the demo with two of his buddies. The three of them joined the demonstrators and held signs for passing motorists to see.
