Ghostbike Memorial Ride Pics 4/9/08
Pictures from Wednesday's memorial bike ride in honor of Christopher Evan Rock, killed by semi-truck trailer this past Tuesday.
Approximately 100 riders rode up Mission St, from the downtown clocktower to Bay/Mission.
A couple of observations:
- Aside from eulogizing Christopher, one of the main solutions offered by the organizers of the ride was to point out that bicyclists are legally allowed to use the full lane on Mission St and that road signs stating this would be beneficial. (The Senile missed this by reporting that the issue was one of "sharing the road")
- This wasn't the first car related accident Christopher had been in. The first, when he was 25, left him deaf with brain damage; the second, when he was 40, killed him. The Senile also overlooked this as the inherently dangerous nature of cars doesn't register w/ the dominant culture.
