Reminder this Saturday night, Join us for a film screening. This event is free and open to the public, but a small donation is requested to cover the cost of screening. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
The Climate Action Team at First Congregational Church of Berkeley (FCCB: 2345 Channing Way, Berkeley) will be showing the documentary film, "What a Way to Go: Life at the End of Empire" at 7 pm on March 8. The threat of nuclear annihilation first brought the very real thought that humans could destroy the planet. While nuclear weapons are still a very real threat, we now face planetary crisis brought to us by climate change and resource depletion.
What a Way to Go looks at the current global situation and asks the most important questions of all:
· How did we get here?
· Why do we keep destroying the planet?
· What do we truly want?
· Can we find a vision that will empower us to do what is
necessary to survive, and even thrive, in the coming decades?
Join us for this powerful film followed by a short discussion.

Thursday, March 13th: Art Opening with Monica Lundy at the Polk Street Gallery
Good Vibrations is proud to present Monica Lundy in our Polk Street Gallery. Join the artist and friends for a special reception of the artist’s figure paintings. Monica explains: “The body is the source of human experience. My objective is to explore my relationship to and interpretation of the body. Inspired by the topography of the body, I "sculpt" thick oil paint with palette knives according to how I perceive volume and form. Working with the palette knife also allows decisive mixing and application of subtle variations in paint color. Analyzing and reconstructing colors and the movement of skin intrigue me.”

Santa Cruz 9/11 Truth News "Z-Day" March 15th, 2008

March 15 -- SF tenants meet to save RENT CONTROL
SAVE RENT CONTROL ! Please attend the SF tenant convention
at the SF Main Library 50 Grove St @ Market / 8th ( Koret Auditorium, downstairs)
on Saturday, 15 March 2008 from 1-5 pm.
We'll discuss Props 98 & 99 [ which affect rent control ]

On March 15th - together with the West County Toxics Coalition,
Greenaction, Amazon Watch, the Richmond Progressive Alliance, the Richmond
Greens, Communities for a Better Environment, Community Health Initiative,
and many other community organizations - we will be organizing a rally and
non-violent direct action at the Chevron refinery in Richmond. We will
holding a rally at Carroll Park (W. Cutting Blvd. and S. Garrard Blvd. in
Richmond) at 11am, and then doing a direct action at the Chevron refinery
(100 Chevron Way in Richmond) at 1pm.
Chevron is a leading war profiteer, as well as one of the biggest Bay Area
polluters. Internationally, Chevron is driving the war and occupation in
Iraq, refining over a million barrels of stolen Iraqi oil in Richmond a
month, and actively lobbying for the privatization of Iraq's oil fields so
that massive oil corporations can seize control of them. Locally, their
planned refinery expansion will increase pollution and cause asthma,
cancer and rising death rates, both in Richmond and in surrounding
communities (as far away as 30 miles).
We will take action against Chevron on March 15th, in order to send a
clear message to Chevron: Stop stealing Iraqi oil, and stop polluting our
communities!
Please join us, and help take action against Chevron! Visit our website
http://bayareadirectaction.wordpress.com/2008/01/06/march-15-chevron-direct-action-and-rally

This party is a fundraiser for Direct Action to Stop the War
http://www.actagainstwar.net We will have plenty of information about how you can get involved in the direct actions in downtown San Francisco on March 19 and updates on the direct action against Chevron in Richmond earlier in that day. Please bring $5 or more to throw in.
The address is 2384 East 27th Street, Oakland, CA 94601. The house is in the back and is directly opposite Manzanita school. Everyone is welcome (except for cops and people who act like them), so bring your friends, family, and loved ones!

Huge Direct Action for March 19 fifth anniversary of the war is rapidly approaching
On the morning of March 19th, we will be organizing multiple direct
actions at the San Francisco offices of federal agencies, corporations
with military contracts or contracts in Iraq, politicians who have failed
to stop the war, and foreign embassies of countries linked to the war in
Iraq. (For a "menu" of these offices, please see our website

We will take direct action on March 19th against as many of these
locations as possible, in order to send a clear message to the economic
and political decision-makers that control this country: No BUSINESS AS
USUAL until all U.S. troops are withdrawn from Iraq!
Please join us, and help take action against Bay Area war profiteers!
