Seccion 22 holds local marches -Oaxaca
The teachers union/syndicate "Seccion 22" held massive LOCAL marches throughout Oaxaca.
The teachers (of public schools) held marches yesterday through the whole state of Oaxaca. It's about the first meeting for the election of a new secretary of their "Sección 22 del Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de la Educación (SNTE)".
But the marches were more political and against Calderon, Ulises Ruiz, the new social law ISSTE and the privatisation (like Mexican oil industry).
As is common knowledge; Seccion 22 from the teachers is the base of APPO and consists of merely socialist PRD members and fewer members of more leftwing, radical and activist groups.
I was at the local march in Tehuantepec from the start, after being invited by a local APPO leader whom I accidentially met just before. The march left after 09.00 (Friday Feb 8th) and arrived just before 11.00.
