We will be screening 2 films which detail the onset of the Free Speech Movement at UC Berkeley and in the SF Bay Area.

"Operation Abolition" 16mm black and white
and
"Committee on Un-American Activities"
by Robert Carl Cohen

These films show the governement's attempt to single out UC Berkeley Professors and Liberal San Francisco Politicians by labeling them "Communists". The trials held by HUAC backfire and the police are called in to drag students and protesters out of the SF Courthouse, down the stairs, and onto the sidewalk. It is here they are hosed down by the fire department and then arrested.

This is a free event, ASUC Sponsored, and Wheelchair accessible.
