Presented in an intimate new venue for the performing arts in the
Diamond Heights neighborhood of San Francisco, PS2007 is
an evening of classic and new opera. Works from Mozart, Wagner,
Verdi, Puccini and Strauss will be paired with the San Francisco
premiere of selections from Mr. Kerns’ new opera “Imajica – Part 1 –
Awakening,” based on the novel Imajica by Clive Barker. Romantic
yet contemporary, this work is exciting in scope, lush in color, and full
of challenging ideas and thrilling images of five Dominions (Earth being
only one), and the forces attempting to unite them in communion or rip
them apart into chaos and darkness.

Performance Showcase, now in its third year of presenting arts
performances, was the inspiration of three members of St. Aidan’s:
television producer and writer Dee LaDuke, dance & event producer
Doug Baird, and writer Darlene Frank. After a recent renovation, the
trio was struck by the church building’s wonderful acoustics and its
potential as an intimate performance space. They conceived a vision
of a new venue that would offer artists in the Bay Area a much-needed
option for affordable performance space and provide audiences in
Diamond Heights and surrounding neighborhoods with the opportunity
to experience performing arts close to home. Performance Showcase
has presented opera, spoken word, new music and contemporary dance.
