Meeting to Launch the Pledge Drive for African People's Solidarity Day

Date:
Thursday, August 23, 2007
Time:
7:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Event Type:
Meeting
Organizer/Author:
Wendy Snyder
Location Details:
Uhuru Solidarity Center, 1601 - 2nd Ave, Oakland (near E. 18th St.)

Participate in the pledge drive for African People's Solidarity events on October 13th and 14th in Oakland, an expression of solidarity with the struggle for the unification and liberation of Africa and African people that will raise funds to benefit the African working class campaigns of the Uhuru (African freedom) movement.

This campaign challenges the charity most often expressed towards Africa and African people and names the real problem as the exploitation of Africa's land, peoples and resources for the benefit of the white world.

Meetings are held every Thursday and this meeting we invite people to join in on the pledge drive to ask family members, friends and the public to support the Uhuru Movement. There is no minimum pledge goal to raise but $500 is the suggested amount.

Leave a message for Lisa at 510-625-1106 if you need more info.
