Ahmadinejad, Chavez insist on Iran-Latin America ties

TEHRAN - President Mahmud Ahmadinejad and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez discussed here on Sunday the avenues for expanding ties between Tehran and Caracas.
Ahmadinejad said the Tehran-Caracas ties would prepare the ground for enhancing ties between Iran and other independent countries in Latin America.
Tehran’s policy is to improve ties with independent countries, Ahmadinejad said.
“Independent countries can help one another and pave the way for development of nations,” Ahmadinejad told Chavez.
The Iranian president stated that the “anti-imperialism” feelings are strong in most parts of the world, especially in Latin America.
Chavez said that the Latin American countries can share Iran’s valuable experiences in various fields.
He also welcomed Iran’s participation in the ALBA movement (Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas) as an observer.
“The Iranian nation will surely succeed in resistance against imperialism,” the Venezuelan leader noted.
Venezuelan president arrived here on Sunday night after visits to Russia and Belarus.

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Venezuela's Bolivarian revolution and Iran's Islamic revolution have the message of peace and brotherhood for all nations while they both stress powerful resistance against bullying and expansionist powers, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said.
Speaking during a joint press conference with his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chavez in southern Iran on Monday, Ahmadinejad described Chavez as a revolutionary and decisive man and voiced pleasure in his visit to Iran.
He also viewed the two countries' relations as profound, extensive, durable and brotherly, saying that both nations are revolutionary and have new, great and humanitarian ideas.
"As we have both frequently announced, there resides no impediment to the expansion of the two countries' relations. We view mightiness and progress of Venezuela as those of our own and due to the same reason the two governments and nations are moving on the path of construction hand in hand and with maximum power and strength," the Iranian president continued.
He further said that the two countries have many joint projects on their working agenda, and mentioned that the agreements and contracts signed during the present visit to Iran by Hugo Chavez will cause a giant leap in Tehran-Caracas ties.
Ahmadinejad underlined that cooperation, solidarity and unity of Iran and Venezuela serve the interests of both nations and will be beneficial to world security, peace and friendship.
"I am proud to say that under the intelligent and revolutionary management of Mr. Hugo Chavez and due to the efforts and decisiveness of the Venezuelan people, that country is now on the threshold of a technological, scientific and industrial revolution," he said, adding that the two states will always side with each other in all the different arenas.
"For those who are upset with the friendship of nations, we have just one sentence which is, if you are angry with the nations' friendship, go die of this anger and sadness," the president said.

The ceremony was held at the end of a one-day visit by Iranian and Venezuelan presidents to Iran's southern port city of Assaluyeh where Ahmadinejad and Chavez inaugurated Borzouyeh petrochemical complex.
The agreements signed by the two countries' oil ministers pertained to power plant construction and energy cooperation. The two sides also endorsed a third document on joint cooperation in the petrochemical sector.
At the end of the ceremony, the Iranian and Venezuelan presidents issued a joint statement and attended a press conference.
The two leaders also inaugurated construction of a joint petrochemical plant in Assaluyeh which will produce a million tons of methanol every year.
A similar plant would be built in Venezuela to give Iran better access to Latin American and Brazilian markets and provide easier reach to India and Pakistan for Venezuela.
The project deemed to be the greatest of its kind in the world will yield 1.280 mln tons of various types of aromatic products annually.
The petrochemical plant Borzouyeh is designed to produce parazayline, artozayline, benzene, rafinit, heavy aromatics, liquefied gas, heavy and light hydrocarbons and penthane cut.
The visit is also aimed at familiarizing the Venezuelan president with Iran's petrochemical potentials and industrial advancements in the Southern Pars region.

Chavez described the two nations as brothers and friends, saying Iranians and Venezuelans will construct their countries through their industrious efforts.
"These two countries seek to build a new world for their own nations and other free nations," he added.
Chavez stressed the resolve of Iran and Venezuela to make progress and attain developments, and said, "Vivid Iranian and Venezuelan nations, down with the enemies of the Iranian, Venezuelan and other free nations of the world."
He further said cooperation between Iran and Venezuela means unity of the Persian Gulf and the Caribbean Sea, and continued, "We want to become united and create a multipolar world."
Describing Iran and Venezuela as two influential powers in the Middle-East and South America, Chavez underlined that the two countries' cooperation seeks peace and friendship and will serve regional peace and security.
He voiced pleasure in his visit to Iran, and expressed the hope that Iran-Venezuela joint petrochemical project would start operation as soon as possible.

President Ahmadinejad, who arrived in the port city of Bushehr this morning at the head of a high-ranking delegation, also inaugurated Martyr Rais-Ali Delvari dam in Shabankareh region in Dashtestan city.
Upon arrival at the International Persian Gulf Airport of Assalouyeh, the president and his entourage were welcomed by Oil Minister Kazem Vaziri Hamaneh, Managing Director of National Petrochemical Industries Company Gholam Hossein Nejabat and several provincial officials.
President Ahmadinejad is also scheduled to visit the South Pars energy region in Assalouyeh to attend the ground breaking ceremony of construction operation for 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th phases of South Pars gas field.
