U.S. Halts Some Chinese Fish and Seafood

Friday, June 29, 2007 : The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has put a hold on five different types of farmed fish and seafood. Many of these imports contain traces of potentially harmful drugs used to prevent disease in the fish.
The drugs are used to treat fungus infections and a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones.

§'Marketplace' Report: Tainted Toothpaste

Thursday, June 28, 2007 : Federal health officials warn that tainted Chinese toothpaste has been distributed more widely than originally reported last month. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has warned consumers to throw out all Chinese-made toothpaste.

China announced Wednesday that it has closed 180 food factories after finding industrial chemicals in products from candy to seafood. Marketplace 's Amy Scott talks wth Anthony Brooks.
