CAROL BROUILLET host, interviewer

June 18, 2007 9/11 Truth, War and Globalization Show in the First Hour with Professor Michel Chossudovsky and in the Second Hour with Maria Gilardin

Professor Michel Chossudovsky is a Canadian professor of economics at the University of Ottawa. He authored- America's "War on Terrorism" in the wake of 9/11. He is editor for the Centre for Research on Globalization, and the outstanding website http://www.globalresearch.ca/.

He has taught as visiting professor at academic institutions in Western Europe, Latin America and Southeast Asia, has acted as economic adviser to governments of developing countries and has worked as a consultant for international organizations including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the African Development Bank, the United Nations African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (AIEDEP), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the World Health Organisation (WHO), the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). In 1999, Chossudovsky joined the Transnational Foundation for Peace and Future Research as an adviser. Chossudovsky is past president of the Canadian Association of Latin American and Caribbean Studies. He is a member of research organisations that include the Committee on Monetary and Economic Reform (COMER), the Geopolitical Drug Watch (OGD) (Paris)and the International People's Health Council (IPHC).

He is an active member of the anti-war movement in Canada, has written extensively on the war in Yugoslavia. He published, on September 12, 2001, an article entitled "The Truth Behind 9/11: Who is Osama Bin Laden?" and was one of the first to question the Bush administration's assertion that Osama Bin Laden was responsible for the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. His article Cover-up or Complicity of the Bush Administration?- The Role of Pakistan's Military Intelligence (ISI) in the September 11 Attacks is what prompted Brouillet to take action and organize a march Demanding a Congressional Investigation of 9/11 in January, 2002. He has been one of the major contributing researchers to the 9/11 Truth movement, casting light on the processes of corporate globalization.

Chossudovsky discussed the US covert and overt actions aimed towards expanding the war into Iran, as well as Lebanon and Syria. He also suggested eeffective strategies for activists to take to break the "consensus political reality espoused by the media and politicians" breaking the Al Qaeda myth, exposing "State Sponsored Terrorism." His website on Globalization is vastly more popular than the corporate "globalization websites" which is a hopeful sign that people are not falling for the propaganda. He also addressed an issue raised in an article posted on his website about whether the US was going into a "Great Depression" on the scale of the one in the thirties of the last century. He noted that that "Deprression was not noted for years, and that yes, on a global scale, we are already in one and cited the signs of the demise of the American economy. In the second hour- Maria Gilardin produces T.U.C. Radio
She learned radio in the KPFA news department in 1980 and was one of the founders of the women's department. She co-wrote the GATT Guide for the Earth Summit in Rio, was founding producer of the national weekly public-affairs show Making Contact, and is a member of the International Forum on Globalization.

Since 1993, Maria has written and produced radio on global trade and great ideas of local resistance to globalization. She has played a leading role in drawing attention to the World Trade Organization and building resistance to corporate globalization.

Maria noted that Fast Track Authorization was expiring for the Bush Administration this month, and spoke of how important the legislation was. The WTO and all trade agreements are really "treaties" which Congress should be involved in negotiating and Nixon created the precedent for the President to bypass Congress and allow the President (and corporate flunkies) to figure out the terms of treaties which have a huge effect upon entire countries and grant corporations greater power than elected governments in determining policies and laws which have enormous consequences. She added that 9/11 was used to push forward "Free Trade" in the Doha Fourth WTO Ministerial Conference in November 2001. Only recently, have insiders begun to acknowledge the massive inequities and propose some minor improvements to globalization- perhaps to prevent majority outrage and rejection of the proposals that governments and the press are imposing on the world.

Maria also spoke of her work on climate change and the shift in the scientific community, which used to "leave policy decisions" to other bodies, but in the last year and a half have felt compelled by their own concerns to speak out more forcefully.

We also spoke about people standing up for their rights when authorities try to get them to shut up through lies or the threat of arrest.
