I am looking for someone who would like to get involved with the East Bay Food Not Bombs by being a part of the Saturday Berkeley Farmers' Market Pick-up. I have been doing the pick-up for about 8 months and I am looking for some new people to help as we get into the busier season. Come out and try it and if you like it come back once a month or as often as every week if you like. -chris

Tuesday May 22, for Silver Warner well known Bike Messenger/artist @ 111 Minna St. 9p - 2a
There will be a large scale benefit art auction for San Francisco
artist Silver Warner at 111 Minna on May 22nd. Silver was born and
raised in SF and has been a bike messenger since 1991. His
photography is often featured in Hamburger Eyes and has been in many
publications from Tokion to Nylon (issue out now). He has also been a
part of numerous gallery shows across the U.S. and in Europe and
Japan. Aside from the art world, Silver has been an icon in
underground street art putting out some of the seminal 'zines to come
from the bay area over the last 15 years. Recently Silver lost a
lifetimes worth of photos, art, and an immense collection of lovable
nonsense to fire. He is also facing a difficult reentry into society
having no bike, camera or savings. Featured artists will include
Mike Giant, Tahiti, UFO, Sam Flores, Oze 108, Doyle, ReLoad Bags, and
many, many famous and incredible artists. 9pm-2am. $5 donation.

The Bay Area Derby Girls need your help
The Derby Girls can't compete where they've been competing any longer
because too many people have been coming to watch and the location doesn't
have the correct permits to support that many people. It seems as if
another location has been secured but the catch is, the Derby Girls will
need to provide their own floor surface. And floors aren't cheap.
Therefore, the B.A.D. Girls are holding a fundraiser this Thursday, May 24th
at DNA to raise money for a sport court. It's a late night adventure
(door open at 9pm, show starts at 11pm). There will be skating by current
team members and great performances such as. Devilettes Paige's Skate Tease
Bottoms Up Burlesque Bombshell Betty The Indra And photos with the Derby

"Nothing is so permanent as a temporary government program."
-- Milton Friedman

"If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is
libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is
a misnomer for the liberals -- if we were back in the days of the Revolution,
so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be
the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government
interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this
is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is."
-- Ronald Reagan
(1911-2004) 40th US President
