Assemblyman Leno Heralds Release of Local Journalist
SAN FRANCISCO— Assemblyman Mark Leno (D-San Francisco) made the following statement in support of Josh Wolf:
“It’s a relief that after Josh Wolf has spent 226 days in prison without bail for refusing to give in to the Federal Government’s attempts to trod upon our first and fifth amendment rights and our California Shield Law, he has finally been set free. Even from jail, Mr. Wolf bravely defended one of our country’s most cherished founding principles - the right to a press that is free from government obstruction. I am proud of the sacrifice he made, and hope it will serve as a reminder that we all must vigilantly speak out against the overzealous attempts by the current Administration to compromise journalistic freedom and integrity in this country.”
